Number Chain

Find the pattern. Fill the void. Break the chain.

🏰 Math Maze

The Legend of Number Chain

Deep in the Math Maze, where numbers form the walls and equations are the doors, Number Chain was discovered by a mathematician who noticed that all knowledge follows patterns. A sequence with a missing link is like a bridge with a broken plank — it collapses unless the gap is filled.

Number Chain questions present a sequence of values with deliberate blanks — gaps in the pattern that only a sharp mind can fill. The pattern might be arithmetic, geometric, fibonacci-like, or something entirely unique. Your job is to feel the rhythm of the numbers and supply what's missing.

In dungeon lore, the Number Chain boss is said to be an ancient abacus animated by a curse — one that can only be broken by correctly completing its own sequence.

⚔️ How to Play

  1. 1

Identify the pattern: difference, ratio, or rule between each number

  2. 2

Check both forward AND backward — some patterns go both ways

  3. 3

There can be multiple blanks — fill each one carefully

  4. 4

Type your answer and press Enter to move to the next blank

  5. 5

Common patterns: +n, ×n, Fibonacci, squares, primes

💡 Pro Tips

  • Calculate differences between consecutive numbers first

  • If differences aren't constant, check the differences of differences

  • Watch for alternating patterns (odd/even positions have different rules)

  • When stuck, try multiplying rather than adding
